MYTHS ABOUT WOMEN AND HEART DISEASE

Guest Speaker: Dr. Dominique Ashen, Ph.D., CRPN, Johns Hopkins Medicine, preventive cardiology nurse practitioner

Myths often surround women and heart disease. This dialogue will dispel the myths and give you the tools you need to make sure you are in the know.  We need to know why early screening and  detection are so important in treating heart disease and to be able to identify the symptoms of heart attack and stroke in women, often quite different from men and a critical part of our well being.

Knowing our numbers is crucial in understanding how to avoid heart disease at any age. Coronary heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death in women totaling  more deaths than from accidents, cancer, respiratory diseases and Alzheimer's disease combined.

10:15am – 10:30am BREAK

DO TELL: THE WHY, WHEN, AND HOW OF COMMUNICATING WEALTH AND A DIALOGUE FOCUSED ON SUCCESFUL WEALTH TRANSFER

Guest Speakers: Donna Trammell, Managing Director, Director of Family Wealth Stewardship and Mark Parthemer, Managing Director and Senior Fiduciary Counsel at Bessemer Trust

The very thought of revealing the plan for wealth with loved ones often provokes a wave of anxiety. But more and more families are initiating these important conversations, earlier than ever. Donna will share key insights on how to prepare the family for wealth in ways that enhance the family's non-financial capital and encourage the next generation to be good stewards of wealth.

Assessing our financial needs during our lifetimes as well as creating our giving strategies necessitates a careful and thoughtful process to make sure we are providing for our own ultralongevity and families needs – as much as for creating our legacies. This open and candid dialogue with two experts will help demystify how we can achieve both as well as explore the different options for creating trusts and other ways to preserve and protect wealth through the generations.
